The Footpaths

The Vanoise National Park maintains 600 km of footpaths inside the Park.


- loop routes -

Our hiking friends are asked to protect our environment by following the regulations in the Park's central core (relative to flora, fauna, camping and fires, rubbish, noise, traffic, etc.). And respect nature everywhere else.

> Vanoise glaciers tour - Starting from Pralognan - 4 to 6 days

> Grande Casse tour - Starting from Champagny-la-Vanoise - 5 days

> Vallaisonnay tour - Starting from the Rosuel gateway mountain hut (Peisey-Nancroix) - 4 days

> Pointe de l'Echelle tour - Starting from Méribel - Plan de Tuéda Nature Reserve - 5 days

> Méan Martin and Grand Roc Noir tour - Hike starting from Bonneval-sur-Arc - 4 days

> Bessanèse tour (between France and Italy) - Starting from Bessans - 5 days

- The GR® 5 hiking trail (in english) - 10 days in the Park

Also called the E2 (European long-distance hiking trail), the GR® 5 starts at the shores of the North Sea in the Netherlands and finishes at the Mediterranean sea in Nice, some 2,500 kilometres later. On the way, it crosses the Ardennes mountains, the plateaux of the Lorraine region, the Vosges mountains with their Monts d'Alsace, the plateaux and gorges of the Jura, ending up in the Alps and the Vanoise National Park (from Peisey-Nancroix to Modane).

- The GR® 55 hiking trail (in french) - 7 days in Park

The GR® 55 trail is a "High Mountain" variant of the GR® 5. It leaves the latter in Tignes and joins it again in Modane (for the stage to the Thabor mountain hut outside the Park) via Pralognan-la-Vanoise. Grandiose panoramas with permanent snow fields possible at the col de la Leisse (2,758 metres) and the col de Chavière (2,796 metres).

- Via Alpina / Red trail (in english) - 7 days in the Park

The red trail is a route linking all eight Alpine countries (Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, France, Monaco). It crosses the main chain of the Alps several times, linking Trieste to Monaco and Bavaria to Liechtenstein.
